[ARCHIVED] A Conversation with Andrew Young

A Conversation with Andrew Young Graphic

The City of Lawrenceville and Aurora Theatre are honored to host A Conversation with Andrew Young at the Lawrenceville Arts Center. This special evening offers the community an opportunity to engage with a living legend as journalist Ernie Suggs leads a fireside chat with Ambassador Young. Together, they will explore his extraordinary journey, from the front lines of the Civil Rights Movement to the global stage. This event is presented in celebration of Ambassador Young and his powerful exhibit currently on display at LAC, providing an inspiring and intimate experience with one of history’s great changemakers. Andrew Young is a civil rights icon, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, and a transformative leader in American politics and global diplomacy. A close confidant of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Young played a crucial role in the Civil Rights Movement, helping to organize key protests and advocating for racial and economic justice. He later became the first African American U.S. Ambassador to the UN, a U.S. Congressman, and the Mayor of Atlanta, where he was instrumental in shaping the city’s international influence and securing the 1996 Olympic Games. His lifelong commitment to equity and diplomacy continues to inspire generations. Schedule:
